"The River Mountain House" or "La Maison entre Deux Rivières" is a comfortable mountain villa in the eastern Pyrenees Catalan mountains, just over an hour from the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is situated at an altitude of 1.000m on a private property surrounded by two rivers and a natural swimming pool with waterfall in the garden (see the enclosed pictures)

"The River Mountain House" or "La Maison entre Deux Rivières" in Nohèdes is a fully renovated mountain villa in the French Pyrenees-Orientales mountains, just over an hour's drive from Perpignan and the Mediterranean Sea. Situated at 1.000 meters altitude up in the mountains in the "Parc naturel régional des Pyrénées Catalanes", you can find the house located between two small river-streams which both flow on our own private property. The altitude and location of the house ensures very comfortable temperatures during the days and cool nights (!!) in the hot summer month . The house has four modern and comfortable large bedrooms, each with it's own look and character, sleeping 8 persons in total. (when required we do have 2 baby beds and 2 childrens high chairs available) The situation in the "Parc Natural Regional del Pirineu Català" ensures a nice and relaxing setting in a beautiful natural surrounding. During the summer you can enjoy the garden with the sounds of the waterfalls in the river and often many hundreds of butterflies flying from flower to flower... We have good drinking water from the natural watersource of the village but we also have our own natural watersource ensuring refreshing and great tasting cold drinking-water (So there is no need to bring bottled water!) And when you walk off of the property you find yourself surrounded by nature with numerous hiking trails and plenty of possibilities to enjoy your holidays. At hiking distance from the house you find three gorgeous lakes up in the mountains great for an afternoon or a full day's hike. Grocery shopping can be done at the town of Prades, 13km down the road where you can find several supermarkets (SuperU, Intermarché, Lidl) and ecological supermarket (Biocoop), boulangeries and on every Tuesday morning in the town center of Prades a large and enjoyable open market with plenty of local produce, fruits and vegetables.

House Rules

- During the summer months rental is from Saturday 16:00 to the next Saturday 10:00, unless otherwise agreed. During the rest of the year there is a minimum 5 night stay unless otherwise agreed :-) - Electricity: pay-per-use policy @ €0.25/kWh - Gas and water are included in the rental fee. - Bed linen and towels (1 per person) are included in the rental - It is a non-smoking house. - Environmental rules / National Park and septic system: only bio-degradable detergents and shampoos are to be used in the house! - Internet: the house has a high-speed satellite internet connection. Downloading and using illegal software may cause the internet connection to be blocked by the provider. - Unfortunately we do not allow pets, due to possible allergies of other people using the house. - The cleaning fee we charge is for the preparation of the house and the bedding for your visit. We do expect you to leave the house behind clean, similar to how it was received. All additional/excessive cleaning we will have to charge at a rate of €40 per hour.

Neighborhood

The house is located in a National Park at an altitude of 1.000m in the middle of nature, surrounded by mountains and small river streams. The moment you walk of the property you have many hiking trails right at your doorstep. About 100m walking up the road there is a great spot for children (age 4+) to play in the river. The water flows over smooth stone with great little ponds and natural waterslides! They just love it! The air is fresh and the nights are cool and dark. It is amazing looking at the stars and to see the satellites and meteorites passing overhead. We have special lounge pillows you can use to just lay down and watch the sky.

Guest Access

The house is modern and well equipped, there are plenty of games for children, there are two riverstreams and swings in the garden and the house, garden and surroundings are an incredible adventure for children (best suitable from age 5 and up) Because of the distance for shopping we have a large freezer and a blender available for you to use (plus cooking books) Also we leave vinegar, salt, pepper and plenty of other spices available for your use.

Find us

A car is very much required! The nearest public transportation is in Prades, 13km from the village of Nohèdes. There you can find trains and buses in the direction of Font Romeu and Perpignan. The nearest airports are Perpignan, Girona, Montpellier and Carcassone where rental cars are readily available. (My personal preferences would be Perpignan and Girona)
